ELIZABETHTOWN — Tevin McLean scored 15 points and the East Bladen junior varsity boys basketball team never trailed Tuesday in beating Midway 47-28 in a Southeastern Athletic Conference game.

Torrean Cogdell added seven points for the Eagles, who had nine players score at least two points. East Bladen is 10-5 overall and 4-3 in SAC-7 play going into its Thursday game at Clinton.

Wyatt Herring scored six points to lead Midway.

Shannon Hawkins opened the East Bladen scoring with a 3-pointer in the first minute. Midway’s Jacob Holland countered with a basket and teammate Camden McLamb made a free throw that tied it at 3-all with two minutes gone.

East Bladen scored the next 14 points in about a five minute span for a 17-3 lead. Leach had seven of his points during the rally that gave the Eagles a 17-3 lead with 4:50 left in the second quarter. McLean also scored the final basket of the half on a lay-up that gave East Bladen a 28-8 advantage.

A pair of baskets by Keshawn Kemp and a 3-pointer by Braylon Cromartie highlighted the third quarter as East Bladen built its lead to 43-18.

Two baskets by McLean gave the Eagles a 47-21 lead with 4:33 remaining. Midway scored the final seven points.
