CLARKTON — Tykee Hill and Jayden Lewis combined to score 25 points Wednesday in leading Elizabethtown to a 38-13 win against Clarkton School of Discovery in a Waccamaw Conference middle school boys basketball game.

Hill scored eight of his game-high 14 points in the first quarter in helping the Cougars race to a 14-2 lead. Lewis added 11 points for Elizabethtown (4-7).

Noah White scored six points for Clarkton School of Discovery (0-10).

Both teams will participate in the Bladen County tournament next Tuesday at Bladenboro Middle School. Elizabethtown will play Bladenboro and Clarkton will play Tar Heel.

After Hill and Clarkton’s Ryne Priest exchanged baskets in the opening two minutes, Elizabethtown scored the next 26 points for a 28-2 lead midway through the third quarter. Hill and Lewis combined to score 21 of those points.

A free throw by Omar Powell snapped Clarkton’s scoreless streak. Prince Powell added a free throw and White netted a basket for the Blue Devils, who trailed 30-6 at the end of the third quarter.

Damian Maynor had a pair of baskets for Elizabethtown in the fourth quarter. Clarkton’s Zamarion Pone capped the scoring with a 3-point field goal.
