NAKINA – Chris Dixon and Case Simmons combined fir 20 points Thursday night to lead Nakina to a 36-30 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘A” Division boys’ basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

Dixon finished with 11 points, and Simmons followed with 9 points for the Mustangs. T. J. Strickland bombed in a pair of 3-point shots in the 1st period to spark Nakina to an early 12-5 lead and totaled 6 points.

JaQuan McRae lit up the scoreboard with 16 points for the Blue Devils. Braylon Johnson dropped in 6 points, and Topher Callihan and Azarion Willis tallied 4 points each.

McRae threw in 2 baskets in the 1st quarter, and Johnson netted a free throw. McRae fired in 3 more baskets in the 2nd quarter, and Johnson made another foul shot, but CSD trailed 21-12 at halftime.

McRae rang up 2 more baskets in the 3rd period, and Callihan and Johnson banged in a basket each. Willis sank 2 free throws as Clarkton trimmed the margin to 28-22. Callihan, Johnson and Willis pumped in baskets in the final quarter, and McRae connected on 2 free throws.

The Blue Devils drop to 0-5 in league play and 1-7 overall and will host Bladenboro Tuesday night.
