CERRO GORDO — West Columbus built leads of 11-4 and 20-10 enroute to a 37-19 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday night.
Charlie McLeod, Ayden Scott and Zaylon Freeman tossed in 2 baskets each for the Warriors in the 1st half, and James McBride threw in a 3-point shot.
Omar Powell drained a 3-point shot, and Noah White sank a free throw for the Blue Devils in the 1st period. ShyRon Thompson banged in 2 baskets and netted 2 free throws in the 2nd quarter for CSD.
Omar Powell sank 2 free throws and a basket in the 3rd period. Prince Powell and Darnell Rouse popped in baskets, and Thompson added a free throw.
Thompson and Omar Powell topped the Blue Devil scoring with 7 points each. Deontray Bellamy led the Warriors with 7 points. Taylor Flores and Freeman followed with 6 points each.
The Blue Devils, now 0-5, will host Whiteville Central Tuesday night. West Columbus will visit Elizabethtown Monday.
