WHITEVILLE — Whiteville Central rode a 25-4 2nd period surge to a 31-10 halftime lead and eventual 51-26 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Bladenboro Thursday night.

L. Little and B. Tedder led the Hornets with 11 points each. T. Rose and S. McKinnis tallied 7 points each.

Gaston Russ threw in a pair of 1st quarter baskets for the Bulldogs, and Corben Chadwick tacked on a pair of free throws. Chadwick pumped in a pair of baskets in the 2nd period.

Isaiah Minus fired in a 3-point shot and 2 more baskets in the 3rd quarter for the Bulldogs. Minus and Keithan Russ buried 3-point shots in the final period. Cole Brisson tossed in a basket, and Chadwick netted a free throw.

Minus topped the Bladenboro scoring with 10 points. Chadwick followed with 7 points, and Gaston Russ added 4 points.

Bladenboro, now 1-3, will host Tabor City Monday.
