CLARKTON — Taylor Rose and Teron Leggette combined for 23 points Tuesday night to lead unbeaten Whiteville Central to a 45-17 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.
Rose led the Hornet scoring with 12 points, and Leggette followed with 11. Leggette tossed in 4 baskets, and Rose added 3 baskets and a free throw during an 18-3 Central run that opened up s 26-7 halftime lead.
Omar Powell sank 3 free throws and a basket for the Blue Devils in the 1st half. Teammate ShyRon Thompson added a 2nd quarter basket. Thompson dropped in another basket in the 3rd period.
Powell bombed in a pair of 3-point shots in the 4th quarter and topped the Clarkton scoring with 11 points. Thompson finished with 4 points, and Noah White banged in another Blue Devil basket in the final period.
The Blue Devils, now 0-6, will entertain Bladenboro Thursday night. Whiteville improved to 9-0 and will play Williams Township Thursday night.
