WHITEVILLE – Whiteville Central rode a 30-12 2nd half surge to a 53-27 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division boys’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Monday night.

John Monroe fired in a basket and 2 free throws, and Nathan Demery canned 2 free throws to keep the Cougars within 8-6 early. Fox Sutton buried a 3-point shot, Demery and Jaden Lewis pumped in baskets, and Demery and Monroe hit free throws to keep Elizabethtown within 22-15 at halftime.

Damian Maynor tossed in a basket, and Tykee Hill swished a free throw for the only Cougar points in the 3rd period as Central opened up a 38-18 lead. Lewis, Maynor and Sutton threw in baskets in the final quarter, Isaiah Lloyd sank 2 free throws, and Maynor made one.

Monroe, Demery, Maynor and Sutton all scored 5 points each for Elizabethtown. Lewis followed with 4 points. L. Little led Central with 12 points, and T. Rose followed with 9. C. Butler netted 8 points.

Elizabethtown is now 1-5 in league play and 2-7 overall.
