WHITEVILLE – A. Smith threw in 8 of her game-high 16 points during an early 11-2 run that sparked Whiteville Central to a 25-14 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division girls’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Monday.

Sana’a Singletary powered in a pair of 1st half baskets for the Lady Cougars then threw in a basket and 2 free throws in the 3rd period. Harmony Richardson and Kamyra McDowell sank free throws to trim the Central lead to 15-10.

However Smith fired in 8 more points in the 2nd half for the Lady Hornets. McDowell and Arian Fields pumped in baskets for Elizabethtown in the final period. Singletary topped the Lady Cougar scoring with 8 points, and McDowell added 3 points.

Elizabethtown is now 4-2 in ‘AA’ Division play and 5-4 overall.
