ELIZABETHTOWN – Jayden Lewis scored three touchdowns Thursday night to lead Elizabethtown to a 36-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference football victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

Lewis bolted into the end zone from 10 yards out for the first Cougar touchdown, and Jayden Byrd carried for the 2-point conversion. Prince McKoy darted 40 yards for another touchdown that pushed the Elizabethtown lead to 14-0.

Lewis broke loose and raced 60 yards for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. Byrd ran for another conversion as the Cougar lead grew to 22-0 at halftime.

After halftime, Lewis intercepted a Blue Devil pass and scooted 60 yards for his 3rd touchdown of the night. Damion Maynor tossed a 2-point conversion pass to Lewis that stretched the lead to 30-0.

Isaiah Lloyd dashed 50 yards for the final Cougar touchdown. Lewis and McKoy both finished with over 100 yards rushing for the winners.

“I am proud of my guys,” said Elizabethtown Coach Ricky Whitaker. “To not have a team last year and then win our first 2 games. That says a lot.”

The Cougars, now 2-0, will host Whiteville Central Thursday night, while Clarkton will travel to East Columbus.
