CLARKTON – South Columbus scored the winning touchdown with 40 seconds left to defeat Clarkton School of Discovery 22-14 Tuesday night in Waccamaw Middle School Conference football action.

Casey Wilder ran for two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion to account for all the Blue Devil points. Wilder blasted through the line and raced 19 yards for a first quarter touchdown then scored the conversion for an 8-0 lead.

The Blue Devils threatened to increase their lead just before halftime. A play that reached the Eagle 2-yard line was nullified by a holding penalty. The Blue Devils then drove to the 4 yard line but a pair of procedure penalties backed them up.

South scored twice in the third quarter to go up 14-8, but Wilder broke loose for a 63-yard touchdown run to tie the game 14-14.

The Blue Devils, now 2-2, will travel to Bladenboro Tuesday night.
