ELIZABETHTOWN – Cheyenne Reinhart and Amiya McCarty scored 15 of their 18 points during a 21-7 Bladenboro surge that propelled the Lady Bulldogs to a 27-19 non-conference middle school girls’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Thursday.
Reinhart led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points, and McCarty chipped in with 8 points. Allison Hickman added 4 points, and Janya McKeithan tallied 3 points. Sana’a Singletary poured in a game-high 13 points for Elizabethtown, and Mariah Ward netted 3 points.
McKeithan banged in a basket, and Arian Fields made a free throw for Elizabethtown as the Lady Bulldogs edged in front 2-1 at the quarter break.
Reinhart nailed a 3-point shot and another basket in the 2nd period. McCarty and Harley Jordan tossed in baskets, and Hickman sank 2 free throws as the Bladenboro lead grew to 13-3. Singletary powered in a basket for Elizabethtown.
McCarty pumped in 2 baskets and 2 free throws in the 3rd quarter, and Reinhart and Hickman popped in baskets as the lead grew to 23-8. Singletary threw in 2 baskets and a free throw for Elizabethtown in the period.
Singletary rallied the Lady Cougars with 3 baskets in the final period. Mariah Ward hurled in a basket and a free throw, and Aaliyah Monroe drove for a basket. Reinhart connected on 3 free throws in the quarter, and McKeithan hit one to keep the Lady Bulldogs in front.
Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs raised their record to 8-2 and will travel to Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday. Elizabethtown, now 5-5, will host Tar Heel Tuesday.
