LAKE WACCAMAW- Malia Graham and Alaya White combined for 15 points and led unbeaten East Columbus to a 28-12 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Wednesday.

White threw in 3 baskets, and Malia Graham netted 2 baskets as the Lady Hawks took a 10-3 lead in the opening quarter. Nia McKoy drained a 3-point shot for the Elizabethtown points.

Ariel Cromartie tossed in a Lady Cougar basket in the 2nd quarter, but Jenna King popped in a basket for East Columbus, and Ryleigh Owens hit a free throw for a 13-5 Lady Hawk halftime lead.

Two more baskets from Malia Graham sparked a 13-3 East run in the 3rd quarter. A’Nide McKibben pumped in a Lady Cougar basket, and Hailey Bennett added a free throw. Mariah Ward scored an Elizabethtown basket in the final period, and Cromartie and Aaluyah Monroe tacked on free throws.

Malia Graham led the East scoring with 8 points, and White followed with 7 points. Cromartie and Nia McKoy finished with 3 points each for the Lady Cougars.

Elizabethtown, now 2-3, will host Whiteville Central Tuesday.
