BLADENBORO – Maycee Kinlaw and Allison Hickman combined to pitch a 2-hitter and strike out 10 batters, and the Bladenboro offense pounded out 17 hits in a 14-4 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.
Coach Hayley Baxley’s Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-2 and will visit West Columbus Tuesday. Clarkton, now 2-4, will host West Columbus Monday.
Kinlaw started in the circle and pitched 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and 5 walks while striking out 5. Hickman pitched 2 hitless innings of relief allowing 1 unearned run and 2 walks while striking out 5.
Caity McLaurin reached base on an error and Hickman walked in the Bladenboro 1st inning, before Addison Wilcox blasted an inside-the-park home run to left field to put the Lady Bulldogs up 3-0.
Alyssia Singletary led off the Bladenboro 2nd with a single, and Brooklyn McKee was hit by a pitch. Singletary was retired on Kinlaw’s fielder’s choice, but McKee later scored for a 4-0 lead.
Rhaniya McLean and Kynslie Kinlaw drew walks to start the Clarkton 4th inning. Both scored when Aniya Willis pounded a triple to right field. Willis scored on Shenandoah Fowler’s fielder’s choice to slice the lead to 4-3.
Alyssia Singletary walked, and McKee smacked a single off the pitcher to begin the Lady Bulldog 4th inning. Maycee Kinlaw knocked in Singletary with a single to left, and McKee darted home on McLaurin’s fielder’s choice. Hickman walloped a triple to left that brought home Kinlaw.
Hadley Dove smoked a double to center field that scored Hickman, and Adyson Carroll yanked a double to right that scored Dove. Carroll advanced on an error and scored on a passed ball to boost the lead to 10-3.
Kynzlee Wood walked and advanced on an error in the Clarkton 5th inning. Kinsley Kinlaw walked and Kynzlee Wood scooted home on a passed ball to whittle the lead to 10-4.
Maycee Kinlaw launched a triple to left field to start the Bladenboro 5th and scored when McLaurin lined a single to right for an 11-4 lead.
Carroll smashed a double to center field to start the Lady Bulldog 6th inning. Chloe Walters drilled a double to center that scored Carroll. Alyssia Singletary raked a single to the left side. McKee reached base on an error that scored Walters. Maycee Kinlaw pulled a double to left that scored Alyssia Singletary and ended the game on the mercy rule.
Carroll batted 4-for-4 with 4 doubles, a run batted in and 2 runs scored for the Lady Bulldogs. Maycee Kinlaw finished 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, a triple, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Hickman batted 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Alyssia Singletary was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.
Wilcox slugged the 3-run homer, Dove and Walters pounded doubles, and McLaurin and McKee added a single each. McLaurin had 2 RBIs, and Dove and Walters had 1 RBI each. McKee scored 2 runs, and McLaurin, Dove and Walters scored 1 run each.
Willis slugged the 2-run triple and scored a run to lead the Clarkton hitters. Teammate Zoie Durden added a single. Fowler had 1 RBI. McLean and Kinsley Kinlaw scored runs.
Kynzlee Wood pitched 5-plus innings and struck out 2 batters for the Lady Blue Devils.
