BLADENBORO – Pitcher Luke Bryant’s double highlighted a 6-run 4th inning that rallied Bladenboro to a 6-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-0 record and will travel to West Columbus Tuesday. Clarkton, now 3-4, will host West Columbus Monday.

Aiden Wooten, Jerod Smith, and Cayden Stocks drew walks before Cayden Morton reached base on an error that scored Wooten and Smith in the Blue Devil 3rd inning. Wooten walked again in the 4th inning, and Zahmarion Pone was hit by a pitch. Omar Powell’s fielder’s choice and an error scored Wooten for a 3-0 Clarkton lead.

Andrew Wren reached base on a passed 3rd strike, and Gauge King reached base on an error to begin the Bulldog 6th inning. Gaston Russ yanked a single to left, and Corben Chadwick walked before Bryant hammered a double to left.

Cole Brisson spanked a single to right field, and Devan Stanley reached base on a passed 3rd strike. Wren, Gauge King, Gaston Russ, Chadwick, Bryant, and Keithan Russ, the pinch-runner for Brisson, all scored to put Bladenboro on top 6-3.

Bryant pitched a 5-inning no-hitter but surrendered 7 walks, 2 hit batters and 3 runs while striking out 5. Smith allowed 5 hits, 2 walks, a hit batter and 6 runs while striking out 9 in his 4 innings of work on the mound for CSD.

Bryant batted 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Gaston Russ, Cole Brisson and Stanley added 1 hit each. Gaston Russ, Chadwick, Keithan Russ, Wren and Gauge King scored 1 run each.

Wooten scored 2 runs for Clarkton and Smith scored 1 run.
