CERRO GORDO – Maycee Kinlaw pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 10 batters, and Bladenboro’s offense pounded out 12 hits as the Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 22-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division softball victory over West Columbus Tuesday.
Coach Hayley Baxley’s Lady Bulldogs evened their ‘AA’ Division record at 1-1 and improved to 5-2 overall. Bladenboro will visit Elizabethtown Wednesday. West Columbus, now 1-3 in ‘AA’ play and 2-5 overall, will host Nakina Thursday.
Allison Hickman drew a 2-out walk in the 1st inning, stole a base and came around to score on a pair of passed balls. Addison Wilcox slammed a double to left field, and Adyson Carroll slapped a single to 3rd base. Wilcox and Carroll both scored on passed balls, and Hadley Dove walked then circled the bases on a pair of passed balls for a 4-0 Lady Bulldog lead.
Kylee Davenport walked to start the Bladenboro 2nd inning and sprinted home when Kinlaw drilled a triple to center field. After Kinlaw was retired at the plate, Caity McLaurin reached base on an error and came around to score on 3 passed balls. Hickman walked and eventually scored on a passed ball. Carroll and Dove drew walks. Carroll scored on a pair of wild pitches, and Dove stole a base and eventually scored on an error for a 9-0 lead.
McLaurin and Hickman smacked singles to begin the Bladenboro 3rd. McLaurin scored on a wild pitch, and Wilcox walked. Carroll pounded a triple to left field that drove in Hickman and Wilcox, and Carroll dashed home on a passed ball to stretch the lead to 13-0.
Kinlaw walked and circled the bases on a stolen base and 2 passed balls. McLaurin swatted a single to left, and Hickman knocked her in with a double to left. Wilcox smoked a single past shortstop that plated Hickman. Carroll reached base on an error that scored Wilcox. Dove roped a single to right that scored Carroll.
Chloe Walters laced a single to right that scored Dove. Walters scooted home on a passed ball, and Kinlaw reached base on an error. McLaurin reached base on an error that plated Kinlaw. Hickman hammered a double to left that scored McLaurin for a 22-1 lead.
Hickman batted 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Carroll finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple, 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Wilcox turned in a 2-for-4 game with a double, an RBI and 3 runs scored. McLaurin batted 2-for-5 and scored 4 runs. Kinlaw tripled, had 1 RBI and scored twice. Dove singled, had an RBI and scored 3 runs. Walters singled, had 1 RBI and scored a run. Davenport scored a run.
Sierra singled and scored the Lady Warrior run on an error in the 3rd inning.
