BLADENBORO – Allison Hickman fired a 1-hitter and struck out 14 batters Wednesday to lead Bladenboro to a 5-4 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Williams Township.

The Lady Bulldogs grabbed a 3-0 1st inning lead. Leea Wilkins ripped a lead-off single to left field, and Kali Allen’s fly ball to right field was misplayed allowing Wilkins to score. Allen scored when Addison Wilcox raked a grounder to 3rd base that was misplayed. An error on Karlee Gause’s grounder scored Wilcox.

A trio of walks led to a Williams’ run in the 2nd inning. Lacey W. slammed a double and scored a Lady Aggie run in the 3rd inning to whittle the Bladenboro lead to 3-2.

Kali Allen laced a single to right field to start the Lady Bulldog 3rd inning. Allen raced home to pad the lead to 4-2 when Wilcox reached base on an error. The Lady Aggies were charged with 6 errors in the game.

Natalee Sykes smashed a single to left in the 5th inning and circled the bases on a sacrifice, a fielder’s choice and an error to stretch the lead to 5-2.

A lead-off walk led to a Lady Aggie run in the 6th, and 2 more walks helped Williams trim the final margin to 5-4 in the 7th.  However Allison Hickman who issued 9 walks in the game retired the final 2 batters on a grounder to the circle and a strike-out to end the game.

Wilkins batted 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Sykes and Allen added 1 hit each. Allen scored 2 runs, and Sykes and Wilcox scored 1 run each.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and will travel to Nakina Monday.
