BLADENBORO – Hunter Hester knocked in Jonah Bryan with a walk-off single in the 7th inning as Bladenboro’s Bulldogs outlasted Williams Township 7-6 Wednesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Bryan walked to begin the home half of the 7th and advanced on Gavin Elks’ sacrifice bunt. Hester then yanked his game-winning hit to left field.

Hester started and pitched 4 innings for the Bulldogs allowing 3 runs – 1 earned – on 2 hits and 5 walks while striking out 7 batters.  Ashton Davis relieved Hester in the 5th inning and picked up the victory with 3 innings of 1-hit relief giving up 3 runs on 1 hit and 4 walks while striking out four.

Elks batted 2-3 and scored 2 runs to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Bryan singled and scored 3 runs. Hester finished with the walk-off hit, 2 runs batted in and scored a run. Corben Chadwick walked and scored a run. Weston Hilburn drove in a run.

Williams pushed across a run in the 1st inning on a pair of walks and a ground-out.

Bryan led off the Bulldog 1st inning with a single, and Elks beat out a bunt single. Both runners came around to score on a fielder’s choice, a wild pitch and a passed ball that vaulted Bladenboro in front 2-1.

Williams used a walk, a bunt single and an error to score two runs and take a 3-2 lead in the 4th inning.

Bladenboro bounced back with 4 runs in the home 5th to take a 6-3 lead. Cole Brisson and Chadwick drew walks to start the rally, and Bryan forced Brisson out at 3rd base. Elks legged out a bunt single to load the bases, and Hester walked to force home Chadwick. Bryan and Elks darted home on wild pitches, and Weston Hilburn’s fielder’s choice brought home Hester.

Williams bunched 4 walks, an error and Colton Allen’s single to score 3 runs in the 6th inning to tie the score 6-6. Levi Stocks batted 2-for-2 and scored twice to lead the Aggie hitters. Allen started on the mound for Williams.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and will travel to Nakina Monday.
