ELIZABETHTOWN – Gracey Edwards and Mollie Sasser teamed up to pitch a 3-inning no-hitter Tuesday as Emereau Bladen opened their middle school softball season with a 17-2 victory over Fayetteville Christian.
Edwards struck out 6 batters in her 2 innings in the circle allowing a run on 3 walks. Sasser walked none, struck out 1 and gave up a run on an error and a passed 3rd strike.
Rylie Miller slugged a lead-off home run to the fence in the 1st inning and scored twice. Edwards hammered a run-scoring triple. Sasser batted 2-for-2, drove in a run and scored a run. Tinsley Allen scored 3 runs – 2 of them as Edwards’ courtesy runner.
Bristol Allen and Addison Douglas scored 2 runs each. Abbey DiCicco, Rylee White, Anna Robinson, Emma Adams, Chloe Merritt, Sierra Thompson and Bella Beard scored 1 run each. Adams drove in the game-ending run. The Lady Aviators capitalized on 9 walks and 8 hit batsmen.
Coach Stanley Sasser’s Lady Aviators will host Midway Middle Monday.
