TAR HEEL – Gracey Edwards pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 8 batters to lead Tar Heel to a 15-5 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over West Columbus Tuesday.
Edwards slugged a 3-run home run in the 1st inning and batted 2-4 with the 3-run homer and 2 runs scored. Catcher Jahyrah Priest smacked a single, walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored 4 runs. Jamaiya Ballard walked twice and scored twice.
Alajeh McMillian walked, was hit by a pitch and scored 2 runs for the Lady Panthers. Abigail Dew walked, reached base on an error and scored 3 runs. Ava Bordeaux was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Carrie Jones also walked and scored a run.
Coach Lexi Dawson’s Tar Heel squad evened their record at 1-1 and will travel to Whiteville Central Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game.
