ELIZABETHTOWN – West Columbus defeated Tar Heel 17-4 Tuesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action at County Park.

The Lady Panthers scored 2 runs in the 1st inning to tie the Lady Warriors 2-2. R. Council walked and scored, and Abigail Dew singled and scored the tying run.

West Columbus pulled ahead with 5 runs in the 2nd. A. Newell walloped a triple in the Lady Panther 2nd inning and scored on an error. Demya Powell slammed a grand-slam home run that keyed a 7-run 4th inning for the Lady Warriors that opened up a 15-3 lead.

Dew hammered a double in the Tar Heel 5th inning and scored on E. Nance’s hit. Dew finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, a walk and 2 runs scored. Newell tripled and scored a run. Council walked twice and scored a run.
