Whiteville Central 6, Bladenboro 4, 9 Innings

BLADENBORO – Whiteville Central scored 2 runs on a throwing error in the ninth inning to defeat Bladenboro 6-4 Monday in the Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action.

Central turned 2 errors and a hit into a first inning run and a pair of hits produced a run in the third inning.

Lainey Autry and Rylee Chadwick drew walks in the Bladenboro third inning, and catcher McKenzie Singletary belted a single. Autry scored the first Lady Bulldog run.

Two hits and a walk helped the visitors pad their lead to 3-1 in the fourth. Kaden Thurman walked in the bottom of the fourth and scored on an error as the Lady Bulldogs pulled to within 3-2.

A pair of errors helped Central push their lead to 4-2 in the top of the seventh. Chadwick smacked a single, and Singletary walked in the home half of the seventh. Chadwick scored, and Singletary raced home on an error with the tying run.

Chadwick struck out 17 batters in 9 innings and allowed 6 runs – 2 earned – on 5 hits and 2 walks. Chadwick also batted a perfect 3-3 and scored a run. Singletary singled and scored a run, and Autry and Thurman scored one run each.

The Lady Bulldogs will host Tar Heel Thursday.
