Thoughts While ShavingA reminder of the dedication and open house of the new Bladen County Law Enforcement Center. It’s set for Friday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Sheryl Young at 910-862-6961. Everyone is invited, but need to know how many.

Congratulations to East and West Bladen High School football teams, both winners last night, both teams now 2-0. West defeated Midway 20-6 and East victorious over North Brunswick 34-0.

Saw the Eagles in action last night and hope to see Knights soon. Decent crowd at EB for a Labor Day game, both teams deserve support.

John Clark posts the current sports schedule daily on our Sports Page. Volleyball, Women’s Tennis and Men’s Soccer action set for today.

A reminder of the upcoming municipal elections set for early November, just a couple of months away, and filing for local, state and federal offices begin shortly after the first of the year. FYI.

This appears to be a good year for farmers. But, don’t need a hurricane now. Irma continues toward the Leeward Islands and late info has it turning north and potentially impacting a portion of the U.S. coastline. Too soon to know exactly what impacts to expect in the U.S. and where they will occur. Stay tuned.

I-95 is very important to our area. New reports indicate eventually the North Carolina portion will be expanded to 8 lanes, obviously it will take years.
