Perdue Foods LLC of Perry, Georgia, is recalling more than 68,244 pounds of chicken nuggets due to possible contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the nuggets may be contaminated with wooden pellets.

The chicken nuggets, advertised as ready-to-eat, were produced on October 25, 2018. The product being recalled is as follows:

*22-oz. plastic bag packages of frozen “Perdue SimplySmart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets Gluten Free” with “Best By: Date 10/25/19” and UPC Bar Code “72745-80656” represented on the label.

The company reported the problem was discovered when they received three separate consumer complaints of wood being found in the chicken nuggets. The Food Safety and Inspection Service also said they have received one complaint to online complaint system.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
