ELIZABETHTOWN –Jaden Lewis and quarterback Omar Powell racked up 2 touchdowns each Monday night to lead the Fighting Irish to a 35-13 victory over the Ducks in Bladen Recreation 10-12 Youth Tackle Football action at County Park.

Lewis opened the scoring with a 55 yard touchdown run then broke loose in the final quarter for another 55 yard TD run that stretched the Irish lead to 35-6. Lewis also ran the conversion after his 1st touchdown.

Powell fired a 25-yard touchdown pass to Noah Ray for the 2nd Fighting Irish touchdown then scooted into the end zone for the conversion. Moments later Powell popped loose and dashed 55 yards for an Irish touchdown. Jayden Byrd powered across the goalline for the conversion and a 21-0 lead.

Jace Lesane raced around the end and galloped 55 yards for a Duck touchdown that whittled the margin to 21-6 in the 2nd quarter. However, Byrd answered quickly ramming through the line and bolting 55 yards for an Irish touchdown. Powell tossed a conversion pass to Ray that grew the lead to 28-6.

After Lewis’ 2nd TD and another Powell conversion run, Duck quarterback Henry Simmons kept the ball around right end and tight-roped the sideline on a 40-yard touchdown run. Lesane bulled into the end zone for the conversion and the final 35-13 count.

The Fighting Irish, now 2-0, will play the Crimson Tide (0-1) Thursday night. The Ducks (0-1) are idle Thursday.
