ELIZABETHTOWN –Malachi Rogers and Derrick Gilchrist ran for 2 touchdowns each to lead the Gators to a 34-7 victory over the Tigers Monday night in Bladen Recreation 7-9 Youth Tackle Football action at County Park.

Rogers darted 6 yards for the game’s 1st touchdown, and Jalen Ballard dashed into the end zone for the conversion and a 7-0 Gator lead. Ballard popped loose and scooted 55 yards for the 2nd Gator touchdown. Rogers carried into the end zone for the conversion and a 14-0 lead.

Rogers busted through the line for a 4-yard TD run that boosted the lead to 21-0 after Ballard’s conversion run. Gilchrist weaved his way through the Tiger defense on a 55-yard touchdown run that grew the lead to 28-0 at halftime.

Tyson Powell scampered around right end and raced 55 yards for a Tiger touchdown then ran the conversion that trimmed the margin to 28-7.

Gilchrist scored on the last play of the game on a 10-yard run that stretched the final margin to 34-7. The Gators, now 2-0, will play the Spartans (0-1) Thursday night, while the Tigers (0-1) have an open date.
