Cade Allen pitched a no-hitter and struck out 7 batters, and the Red exploded for 9 runs in the 4th inning to post a 17-1 mercy-rule victory over the Grey Monday night in Bladen Recreation 13-14 baseball action.

Allen walked 2 and hit a batter. The Grey scored in the 3rd inning when D’marius Smith walked and dashed home as Parker Greene reached base on an error.

In the Red 1st inning, Allen walked, and Matthew Kemp swatted a single. Lee Barnes, Aiden Russ, and Luke Howell drew walks, and Jonah Bryan was hit by a pitch. Allen and Barnes scored runs for a 2-0 Red lead.

Trenton Meares, Richard Severine and Allen drew walks to begin the Red 2nd inning. Hezekiah Blanks-Adams, Kemp, Barnes, Howell and Conner Smith smacked singles. Meares, Severine, Blanks-Adams, Allen, Kemp and Barnes scored runs as the Red lead grew to 8-0.

Barnes drew a lead-off walk in the Reds 9-run, 4th inning. Aiden Russ belted a single, and Howell, Smith, Richard Severine, Blanks-Adams and Barnes all reached base on errors. Meares laced a single, and Kemp hammered a triple to clean the bases. Russ slammed a double, and Howell delivered a single to push the lead to 17-1.

Kemp walloped the triple and finished 3-4 at the plate to lead the Red hitters. Russ batted 2-3 with a double, and Howell turned in a 2-3 game at the plate.

Natoren Corbett, Colton Daly and Carson Gooden shared the pitching duties for the Grey.
