The Highway 242 Grill in Ammon was broken into during the early morning hours of Monday.

Owner Gloria Smith said she is offering a reward for the information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Smith said that between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. someone entered the store through the roof. She explained there is an area similar to a crawl space in the ceiling and the culprit used that to gain access to the interior of the store.

Bladen County Chief Deputy Larry Guyton said, “The alarm went off around 3 a.m. When the owner was driving up they saw the side door open and called law enforcement. There was some damage to the building and some meat and money were stolen.”

Once inside, Smith said the individual or individuals had been through the entire the store before taking some cash and possibly some meat and leaving by way of the rear exit door.

Smith said the reward will only be paid if the information received will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Information can be given to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office at 910-862-6960 or call Gloria Smith at 910-874-2935.
