Former West Bladen volleyball star Shanice Jones has led the Winston-Salem Atkins Lady Camels to 3 straight wins in her first season as a volleyball head coach.
The Lady Camels have not dropped a set as they began the year with 3-0 wins over Winston-Salem Parkland, Greensboro Smith and Greensboro Dudley. The victories over Smith and Dudley were both Mid-State 3A Conference games.
Jones, a 2010 graduate of West Bladen, had served as an assistant coach at Atkins 3 years ago, but moved into the head coaching role this season. She currently works as a health and physical education teacher at Winston-Salem Carver.
The Atkins junior varsity is also coached by Jones, and they opened their season with a 2-0 victory over Dudley Thursday.
In addition to her coaching duties, Jones is currently pursuing her Masters at Winston-Salem State University.
