BLADENBORO – Midway pounded out 15 hits and defeated West Bladen 17-4 Monday night in a Southeastern Athletic Conference softball game that was suspended by a power outage due to a thunderstorm Friday night. Midway led 11-2 when the game was stopped by the storm.

The Lady Knights, now 2-2 in SAC play and 2-5 overall, will host St. Pauls’ Tuesday night. Midway remains unbeaten at 4-0 in the league and is 9-2 overall. The Lady Raiders will visit Clinton Tuesday night.

Junior Tamia Gwynn batted 3-for-3 with a double, 4 runs batted in and 4 runs scored to lead the Midway attack. Junior Kiley Ives finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and 6 RBIs. Sophomore Peyton Herring was 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored. Freshman Ella Clark drove in 2 runs with 2 doubles and scored a run. Junior Sarah Autry was 2-for-3 and scored twice. Freshman Kyleigh Stonerock slugged a 2-run home run in the 2nd inning.

Senior Gracie Faircloth lined a single to right field, and sophomore Kali Allen was hit by a pitch to start the West 1st inning. Junior Marlie Walters belted a single to right field, and junior Kallie Bass drove in Faircloth with a sacrifice fly. Sophomore Natalee Sykes ripped a single to left that scored Allen and edged West ahead 2-1.

The Lady Knights added a pair of runs in the 5th inning. Faircloth reached base on an error, and Walters walked. Bass hammered a double to centerfield that scored Faircloth, and junior Marlene Crabtree knocked in Walters with a single.

Bass doubled and drove in 2 runs to lead the West hitters. Sykes, Crabtree, Walters and Faircloth contributed 1 hit each. Crabtree and Sykes drove in runs. Faircloth scored 2 runs, and Allen and Walters scored 1 run each.

Crabtree started in the circle and pitched 2 innings allowing 7 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1. Faircloth worked 3 innings of relief and allowed 10 runs – 6 earned – on 9 hits and a walk while striking out 3.

Jordyn Christopher started and pitched 1 inning for Midway allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 1. Autry worked 4 innings of relief and gave up 2 runs – 1 earned – on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3.
