SOUTHPORT – Sophomore Kina Davis pitched a 4-hit shutout and struck out 16 batters to lead South Brunswick to a 3-0 non-conference softball victory over East Bladen Wednesday night.

Sophomore Addison Woodruff doubled home Davis who had walked with the 1st Lady Cougar run in the 1st inning. Junior Veronica Nation and senior Haley Kirby singled in the South 2nd inning, and both scored on an outfield error to push the lead to 3-0.

Senior Karli Priest pitched a complete game for the Lady Eagles allowing 3 runs – 1 earned – on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out five. Freshman Cabria Baldwin batted 2-for-3 to lead the East Bladen hitters Priest connected on a 3rd inning single, and freshman Niyah Wooten reached base on a hit in the 6th inning.

Woodruff batted 2-for-3 with the run-scoring double to lead the South hitters.

The Lady Cougars will host West Bladen Monday. East Bladen will travel to South Columbus Friday night.
