TABOR CITY – Senior Peyton Duncan pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 6 batters to lead South Columbus to a 10-0 non-conference softball victory over West Bladen Thursday night.

Junior Mackenzie Singletary smacked a 1st inning single, and junior Kaitlynn Brisson and sophomore Gracie Faircloth drew walks to account for the only Lady Knight baserunners against Duncan.

Junior Bella Coleman drove in the 1st South run with a 2nd inning double. Two hits and an error led to a pair of Lady Stallion runs in the 3rd inning that padded the lead to 3-0. South added another run in the 4th then ended the game with a 6-run 5th inning.

Coleman led the 10-hit South attack with a 2-3 performance that included a double, 2 runs batted in and a run scored.  Sophomore Brileigh Ward finished 2-4 at the plate with 2 RBI’s, and sophomore Reah Lee was 2-4 with a run scored.

Junior Madison Taylor started in the circle for West and pitched 2.1 innings allowing 7 runs – 2 earned – on 5 hits and a walk. Junior Kylie Durden relieved and worked 2 innings giving up 3 unearned runs on 3 hits and a walk while striking out three. Faircloth pitched the final 0.1 innings and gave up 1 hit while striking out one.

The Lady Knights, now 1-4, will open Southeastern Athletic Conference play at East Bladen Tuesday at 6 p.m.
