ELIZABETHTOWN – Tar Heel’s Lady Panthers exploded for 12 runs in the 2nd inning to open up an 18-2 lead en route to a 20-3 victory over Elizabethtown Tuesday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action.

Gracey Edwards pitched a 4-hitter and struck out 8 batters for Tar Heel. At the plate Edwards belted 2 hits, walked and scored a run. Catcher Jahyrah Priest smacked a hit, walked and scored 3 runs. Teammate Carrie Jones walked 3 times and scored 3 runs.

Jamiya Ballard walked and scored 2 runs for the Lady Panthers. Teammate Ava Bordeaux walked twice and scored 3 runs. Alajeh McMillian walked and scored 3 runs. Abigail Dew was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Everlee Nance walked twice and scored a run, and Emma Fisher scored 2 runs.

Anide McKibben belted 2 hits and scored a run for the Lady Cougars. Teammate Niyah Wooten smashed a single and scored a run, and Nia Banks slugged a single and scored a run. Cylee Lugenbill started in the circle for Elizabethtown.

Coach Lexi Dawson’s Lady Panthers improved to 2-1 and will host East Columbus Wednesday. Elizabethtown will travel to play West Columbus at Evergreen Thursday.
