ELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Tessa Nicholson slugged 2 home runs and batted 4-for-4 to lead Whiteville to an 11-2 non-conference softball victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.
Freshman Campbell Thompson led off the Lady Wolfpack 3rd inning with a single, and senior Emma Hooks walked, before Nicholson launched a 3-run homer over the center field fence for a 3-1 lead.

Sophomore Dyiamon Robinson had staked the Lady Eagles to an early 1-0 lead by blasting a solo home run over the center field fence in the 2nd inning.
Senior Kadance Hammonds slammed a double to center field, Thompson reached base on an error, and Hooks and Nicholson belted singles to center field as the Lady Wolfpack added 4 runs in the 4th inning to open up a 7-1 lead.
Nicholson pounded her solo home run over the right-center field fence in the 6th inning to push the margin to 8-1. The Lady Wolfpack bunched 4 hits, a walk and an error to tack on 3 more runs in the 7th inning.
Senior Mariah Smith walked to start the East Bladen 6th inning, and her pinch-runner, Mary Frances Sutton, raced home when junior Maegan Burney drilled a single to center field.
Junior Karli Priest batted 3-for-4 to lead the Lady Eagle hitters. Robinson smashed the home run, and Burney, junior Laura Davisson, and freshman Martha Simmons connected for 1 hit each.
Davisson went the distance in the circle for East and gave up 11 runs – 6 earned – on 12 hits and 3 walks while striking out three.
Hammonds pitched the 1st 3 innings for Whiteville and gave up a run on 4 hits while striking out two. Junior Kloe Sellers relieved and worked the final 4 innings giving up a run on 3 hits and a walk while striking out six.
Hooks, Thompson and Chesney Reynolds all batted 2-4 to follow Nicholson on the Whiteville hitting list. Hammond hammered a double.
East Bladen, now 3-3, will host South Columbus Wednesday at 6 p.m.
