RED SPRINGS – Six Bladen runners – 4 from East Bladen and 2 from West Bladen were named to the Southeastern Athletic Conference Cross Country All-Conference First Team at Wednesday’s championship meet.

East Bladen Coach Wilson Bolden was also named Coach of the Year based on his team’s performance during the season. “I am very emotional,” said Bolden. “I have worked so hard for this.”

West Bladen sophomore Demon’tre Love finished 2nd in the 5,000 meter boys meet Wednesday with a time of 25 minutes, 40.19 seconds. Right behind him was East Bladen sophomore Johnny Alvarado (26:05.98). Alvarado won 3 of the regular season boys’ races.

Joining Love and Alvarado on the boys’ All-SAC-7 team were Eagle senior Jacob Knuth (6th place, 26:44.27) and Eagle junior Hunter Demery (11th place, 28:39.34).

Named to the girls’ All-SAC-7 First Team were West Bladen senior Lainey Autry who finished 4th in Wednesday’s race and East Bladen sophomore Sabara McLean who finished 11th. The times for the girls’ race have not been made available at this time.

West Bladen’s Kirsten Warwick (8th place), Holland Davis (13th place) and Kaden Thurman (14th place) all received Second Team All-Conference honors.

Clinton won the boys team competition Wednesday with 46 points followed by the Eagles who finished second with 58 points. Midway won the girls’ team competition with 25 points. East Bladen was 5th with 91 points, and West Bladen only had 4 runners.
