Speed a Little, Lose a Lot
Speeding continues to be a major contributor in crashes in North Carolina. Last year, it was the leading factor in deadly crashes.
To remind drivers of the dangers of speeding and potential consequences, the Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s latest campaign: Speed a Little, Lose a Lot, will run March 25 – 31.
“We know law enforcement officers from Murphy to Manteo will be all across the state watching for speeders,” GHSP Director Mark Ezzell said.

Vance County Bridge Named in Honor of Trooper
Rain and breezy conditions did not keep people away from the Satterwhite Point Road Bridge Dedication for Master Trooper Brent Montgomery.
NCDOT dedicated the bridge over Interstate 85 in Vance County for the trooper who died of COVID in 2021.
Ferry System Gets New Vessel
The North Carolina Ferry System is saying ‘ahoy’ to its newest vessel!
The Motor Vessel Avon is a river-class ferry that began serving the Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach route on the Neuse River last week.
The ferry was built in Houma, Louisiana, and can carry up to 40 vehicles.
