Thoughts While ShavingBe careful what you ask for….just may receive….Weather folks are warning of heavy rainfall today and tonight accompanied by thunder storms….well, a 40% chance.  We need rain.
Our high temp yesterday was in the mid nineties…. great time for quiet time… TV sports were plentiful… Auto racing, golf, baseball… lazy time in a cool place… or turn off the TV and listen to the clock tick-tock.
High School football practice is underway at East and West Bladen…You can bet on high temps the first few days of August.  John Clark covers the local sports landscape with constant updates for BladenOnline… John is Bladen County’s most experienced local sports writer.
Ever have your tongue itch?
It’s Monday, the first Monday in the month….meeting time for some of our elected boards… Bladen County Board of Commissioners and Elizabethtown City Council… maybe others…
For the more mature among us… remember no air conditioning? Top games included  jack rocks, hop scotch, monopoly with the whole family participating, sack races, shooting marbles.
There was no concern about the illegal use of drugs, every community had one or two that manufactured moonshine or homemade grape wine… some used it themselves and for others it was a source of income… and yes it was illegal and occasionally there was a ‘bust’ of an operation.
Well… thought we would have some resolution/information on the untimely death of Lennon Lacy, the 17 year old West Bladen student.  It has been 11 months since he was found hanging on a swing set in Bladenboro.  The FBI was called in to investigate in mid December… that was nearly 9 months ago… still no report… Keep hearing it could come soon… Everything on hold waiting for FBI findings… It was ruled a suicide by local authorities and the SBI.
Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.
Make it a habit to do nice things for people who will never find out.
Keep life simple.
Count your blessings.
