Thoughts While Shaving
Have spent a few hours this week searching results of Bladen County presidential elections.  Bladen County has voted democratic for most of my lifetime.  Question, was Donald Trump the first Republican to receive the majority of votes for president in Bladen since Herbert Hoover?
Answer, no, in 2004 George W. Bush (R) received 6,174 votes (50.14%) compared to 6,109 (49.61%) for John Kerry (D).  And, in 1972, Richard Nixon (R) received 4,205 votes (64.7%) and George McGovern’s (D) total was 3,108 (42.6%)
Donald Trump (R) received 8,550 (53.8%) votes and Hillary Clinton (D) 7,058 (44.4%).
In searching results over the years, remember 1968?  George Wallace (I) led the ballot with 3,108 (43.6%), Hubert Humphrey (D), 2,754 (32.8%) and Richard Nixon (R) (29.9%).
Several events planned or underway this weekend.
