Thoughts While Shaving for February 24

My heart goes out to the folks who are planning funerals in the Clarkton area for those who were killed early Sunday morning and to the survivor. Investigation continues by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Department and hopefully an arrest has been made or will be soon…

We have read about such crimes for years in far away places, but in the world we live in, too many, too close home…

Winter (snow) arrived over the past few days and spring time officially arrives March 8.

Have you voted? This is the last week of early voting. … Primary election a week from tomorrow (Tuesday), March 3.

A salute to Sharon McDowell, the Bladen County native recently inducted to the UNC-Wilmington Hall of Fame…

Sheila Ford Duncan’s jersey was retired Saturday at UNC-Asheville. The former Clarkton Blue Devil was one of Bladen’s best…

I enjoy keeping up by reading John Clark’s sports articles … Check it out today … includes playoff info for East and West Bladen basketball teams.

I check the sports page after reviewing the news and obit page. … What elderly citizens do…

Every year, spring time is a busy time … and no doubt this year will be the same. … Check all our BladenOnline pages…

Read recently about how newspapers as we know them are suffering … one large chain declaring bankruptcy. Sad, but change comes whether we like it or not.

I remember years ago when WBLA provided local news. … We had a couple of reporters in the 70s. One was John Tomlin, now a part of the TV series … This Old House. … May not be the correct title. … When was the last time you heard local news on a neighborhood radio station? TV, Internet and other sources have changed the landscape…

Looking forward to a new week…
