The old expression of ‘hot as blazes’ pretty much describes our weather in recent days … And, apparently it’s the same all across the USA…
Looking back … 90 degrees shortly after lunch at the local weather station at the airport … 90 degrees … heat index 102 … Mid afternoon rainfall totaled .60 inches … miserable is the best way I can describe … and no relief in the immediate future … based on the forecast.
Today (Saturday), showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 2 p.m. with a high near 90 … heat index as high as 101 and a 60% chance of rain.
Tonight, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75 … chance of rain is near 30%.
Sunday (Church Day) … Showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 92, windy, gusts as high as 15 mph and a 60% chance of rain.
Not much relief in sight … Highs Monday thru next Friday range from 93 to 96…
Bladen County Commissioners meet Monday, 6:30 p.m. … lengthy agenda … Meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Room, lower level of courthouse.
If you had your rathers … and either of the leaders, ask … Democrat and Republican … would you prefer another presidential … candidate/candidates? One is currently in the mid 70s, the other in the early 80s … Old as granddaddy … old as I am? Much to think about in the months ahead … and by the time the term ends … add 4 more.
WWAY TV recently had a story about 22 year old Alaysee Hester (no relation), Bladen County resident … ‘A journey to success despite setbacks’ … I did not see nor hear the interviews … do not know the individual but good article…
We will no doubt be hearing the pros and cons of another increase by the Federal Reserve related to interest rates … hoping to head-off a recession … Thoughts? I hope we do not have a recession … and do not like the idea of another rate increase … Who knows?
