Here are Three Things to Know for Thursday, November 5:

1. Free COVID-19 testing begins at 1 p.m. today at the Bladen County Health Department at 300 Mercer Mill Road. Testing will be offered several times throughout November, including 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday. For an appointment or more information visit https://lhi.care/covidtesting or call 877-562-4850. Testing is offered by OptumServe.

2. Strides: Lions for Diabetes Awareness walk Saturday at 9 a.m. starting from the parking lot adjacent to First Baptist Church of Clarkton. Event is sponsored by Clarkton Lions Club. Registration fee is $15, which includes a T-shirt or $5 without a T-shirt. Walk at your leisure through a quiet neighborhood. All proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

3. Lower Cape Fear LifeCare’s Hope for the Holidays Grief Workshop begins Nov. 12, 1-2:30 p.m. The no-cost virtual grief workshop is for people coping with the death of a loved one and anticipating the holiday season. Pre-registration is required; to register, email Melinda.McKeon@LifeCare.org with your name, address, phone number, and the name and date of the program you wish to attend. You may also call 910-796-7991 and leave a message with the same information. A grief counselor will contact you.
