United Way of Bladen County and Lumber River United Way have partnered for the 2021 Campaign to better serve the needs of Bladen County.
Tate Johnson with Lumber River United Way announced a $500 donation was made to Bladen Community College’s Eagle Nest food pantry as per the United Way of Bladen County board’s request. Tate reported, “Also, the Bladen Journal Empty Stocking Fund raised a total of $3,575.00 and that amount is included in the 2021 Campaign total for Bladen County.”

Any business or organization interested in the United Way 2021 Campaign may contact Johnson with Lumber River United Way to request campaign materials at tjohnson@lumberriveruw.org.

“We hope that this year we can raise the funding needed to provide programs and initiatives in Bladen County,” Johnson stated.

Lumber River United Way serves Bladen, Hoke, and Robeson Counties. They have invested $354,272 in fifteen different nonprofits to provide community programs and initiatives. They invested over $24,000 in hurricane Florence Assistance, gave $35,109 to eighteen various nonprofits for COVID-19 Community Relief, invested nearly $75,000 in unique community programs and volunteer services, and gave a total of $257,355 to thirteen nonprofits for an Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
