A Pender County boy who was abducted from his Hampstead home on Monday night has been found safe and his mother, who does not have legal custody, has turned herself in to authorities.

Atreyu Canady, 12, was abducted at about 11 p.m. from his Hampstead home Monday night by Ashley Marie Canady, his mother.

Law enforcement officials said they were found safe in Fayetteville and Ashley Marie Canady turned herself in to Fayetteville Police.
