The beautiful fall weather has brought the golfers out to enjoy one of the finest courses in eastern North Carolina, Vineyard Golf at White Lake. The greens are running at about 11 on the stimpmeter, the fairways are groomed and the ball stands up beautifully on them. The roughs are … well rough … with the heavy stand of Bermuda grass making it hard to play a long iron. Most players are now using hybrids to advance the ball from their grassy perches.

A lot of the better players have been recording low numbers. One of the best rounds recorded lately was Stacy Owen shooting a three-under par of 69. Owen recorded six birdies and three bogeys on a round recently.

Don’t forget the Reelect James “Jim” McVicker Bladen County Sheriff Tournament scheduled for Saturday, December 9.
