ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen swept West Columbus 3-0 Thursday night in Waccamaw Conference volleyball action.
The Lady Eagles won by set scores of 25-6, 25-17 and 25-16. Junior Iveonna “NeNe” Ward battered the Lady Viking defense with 15 attacks, 8 kill, 3 aces and had 1 dig. Senior Dyiamon Robinson pounded in 10 attacks, 7 kills, 3 blocks and 1 ace.
Junior Martha Simmons poured in 11 aces, 7 attacks, 2 kills and a block for East. Senior Karly Ross dished out 13 assists and added 3 digs, 3 aces, an attack and a kill. Junior Mary Frances Sutton slammed in 7 attacks and 2 kills.
Senior Molly Evans contributed 10 assists, 2 attacks, a kill and a dig for the winners. Junior Mollie Tolar spiked in 4 attacks and a kill. Senior Zoe Smith knocked in 2 attacks, a kill and had 1 dig. Rylee Brice had 1 dig.
The Lady Eagles improved to 2-2 in league play and 4-8 overall and will travel to Whiteville Tuesday night.
