East Bladen High SchoolCERRO GORDO – East Bladen rallied to win the final three sets and claim their first Three Rivers Conference victory of the season 3-1 over West Columbus Tuesday night by set scores of 22-25, 25-10, 25-19 and 25-19.

A trio of service points from senior Sarah Johnson staked East Bladen to a 10-5 lead in the opening set. A 9-2 spurt edged the Lady Vikings ahead at 14-12, but sophmore Kayleigh Raynor knocked in 3 service points to vault the Lady Eagles back in front 17-15. West Columbus closed out the set with a 10-5 flurry.

An 8-point service run by junior Gracyn Martin propelled the Lady Eagles to a 17-7 lead in the second set. Sophmore Katie Evans served out the set with six consecutive service points.

Three service points from Martin and four service points from Johnson opened up a 14-9 lead for East Bladen in the third set. Two service points each from Evans and Mendell kept the Lady Eagles ahead until Raynor served out the set with a pair of service points.

West Columbus grabbed an early 8-3 lead in the fourth set, before Raynor reeled off 4 straight service points to tie the set 8-8. A pair of service points from Martin edged East Bladen in front 11-10.

A 4-point service run by Evans lifted the Lady Eagles into a 17-14 lead. A pair of Mendell service points kept East up 21-18, before Raynor served out the match with a trio of service points.

Evans topped the Lady Eagle servers with 16 service points. Martin captured 15 service points, and Raynor finished with 11 service points. Mendell followed with 10 service points. Johnson totaled 8 service points in the match, and junior Cybil Campbell contributed 2 service points.

Coach Sara Ward’s Lady Eagles will travel to Fairmont Thursday.
