WHITEVILLE – Whiteville defeated East Bladen 3-0 Tuesday night in Waccamaw Conference volleyball action. Whiteville won by set scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-8.
Junior Miriam DeVane hammered in 7 attacks, 4 kills, 2 blocks and an ace for East. Senior Molly Evans distributed 5 assists and finished with 3 attacks, 2 digs, a kill and a block. Senior Karly Ross handed out 3 assists and had 3 digs.
Lady Eagle senior Dyiamon Robinson slammed in 5 attacks, 3 kills and 2 blocks. Junior Mollie Tolar pounded in 11 attacks, 3 kills and an ace. Junior Iveonna “NeNe” Ward smashed in 6 attacks, 1 ace and had 2 digs.
Freshman Taylor Dowless checked all the stat columns with an attack, 1 kill, 1 ace, 1 block and a dig. Junior Mary Frances Sutton knocked in 3 attacks and a kill. Senior Zoe Smith spiked in an attack and a kill. Junior Martha Simmons had 2 attacks, and Rylee Brice collected 1 dig.
The Lady Eagles, now 2-3 in league play and 4-9 overall, will host South Columbus Wednesday night.
