Coach Kris Williams’ West Bladen Knights will play their pre-season football scrimmage Saturday morning at Harrells Christian Academy. The scrimmage will start at 9:30 a.m.

The scrimmage was originally slated to be played at West Bladen, but some repair work on the Knights’ field caused the contest to be moved to Harrells with plans for the two schools to scrimmage next season at West.

It will be the first action at the helm of the Knight varsity for Coach Williams, who was named during the summer as the successor to Todd Pait who coached West Bladen in 2016. Williams has coached the Knight jayvees for the last few seasons.

A year ago the Knights won their first two games but finished the season with a 2-9 record. Running back B. J. Drake and linemen Zion Barrett and Jonathan Robinson head the list of returnees. The Knights are looking for big things this season from sophmore quarterback Tyree Boykin.

The Harrells Christian Crusaders posted a 5-7 record last season. Leading rushers Derek Bryant and Tyshii Scarborough have graduated, but 6-3 Shaquor Newkirk (559 yards rushing, 44 tackles) and 219-pound sophmore Jack Laslo are key returnees.
