BLADENBORO – Juniors Lexie Corrothers and Kasee Singletary combined for 30 points Tuesday night to lead West Bladen to a 48-38 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over South Columbus.
Singletary fired in a trio of 2-point baskets and a 3-point bomb in the opening quarter. Corrothers and freshman Hannah Pait dropped in a basket each to keep the Lady Knights even 13-13 at the quarter break. Caila Turbeville threw in 7 points for the visitors in the period.
Junior Seniah Johnson sank 3 free throws, Corrothers nailed a 3-point shot, and junior Tatiana Hunt flipped in a basket as the Lady Knights opened up a 21-17 halftime lead.
Corrothers buried a 3-point shot, a pair of 2-point baskets and 2 free throws in the third quarter. Johnson threw in a pair of baskets as the Lady Knights padded their lead to 34-27.
Singletary and Pait pumped in 2 baskets each in the final quarter, Corrothers canned a trio of free throws, Johnson made 2 free throws, and freshman Haley George hit one.
Corrothers topped the Lady Knight scoring list with 17 points. Singletary finished with 13 points, Johnson followed with 9 points and Pait totaled 6 points.
Turbeville led South Columbus with 12 points.
Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights, now 11-6 in the TRC and 14-8 overall, will host rival East Bladen Friday night.
