All branches of the Bladen County Public Library to reopen on Monday, June 15, but patrons should expect changes.

The Bladen County Public Library branches will reopen to the public on Monday, June 15 with regular service hours. We are excited to welcome our patrons back to the library, but it will look much different than the last time they were able to visit our branches. A limited number of public access computers will be available for public use for up to an hour per day and library materials will be available for grab and go. At our main library, our stacks will be closed, but our staff will be here to serve you by retrieving your library materials. At all library branches, our community spaces and seating including the Wanda Campbell Room and the meeting room will be unavailable at this time. For your safety, we are quarantining library materials for 72 hours before check-in and reshelving, providing access to hand sanitizer for staff and the public, ensuring that shared public equipment is sanitized between uses, putting into place social distancing measures, and sneeze guard barriers have been installed at our service desks in all three library locations. All present operating procedures outlined above will remain in place at least until North Carolina moves into Phase 3 and some will remain in place indefinitely.

For the safety of staff and other patrons, we ask that our patrons do not visit our branches if they are sick and especially if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Symptoms of COVID-19 can include cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and loss of taste or smell. We also ask that they practice social distancing (maintaining a distance of 6 feet apart from others), and follow hand hygiene protocol (washing or sanitizing your hands often) when visiting our locations.

In-person programming will remain suspended until further notice. We will offer special online programming for our Summer Reading program in July and we will continue our Books Make It Better program for the next few weeks. We will also have activity bags to distribute to children that correlate with our online programming in July. Please stay tuned for more information.

Wireless internet is still available outside of our library buildings as usual and we continue to offer our e-resources 24/7. E-books, e-magazines, and e-audiobooks among other resources are available at www.bladencountypubliclibrary.com
