Welcoming yet another much-needed professional service provider to the quickly growing Bladenboro business community, several dozen enthusiastic residents attended the grand opening ceremonies on Friday, October 1st, for Victory Medical’s new home at 305 South Main Street, beside the County Library.

Although the ribbon-cutting had been announced for 5 pm, owner Daphne Green was still graciously welcoming visitors much later as they strolled through her well-appointed facility, commenting positively and recalling the building’s previous life as a bank.

While guests were touring the facility prior to the ribbon-cutting, an abundance of hot dogs was being prepared on a charcoal grill; canopy tents had been set up with tables and chairs, and other refreshments and soft drinks were at hand.

The ceremony got underway at 5:15, with Boost the Boro Board member Don White welcoming attendees and providing a snapshot of the services Victory Medical will provide. Cory Nance then provided a prayer for the success of the business and the continued health of Bladenboro’s citizens.

Ms. Green asked that her employees and family join her behind the ribbon, as well as Supervisory Physician Dr. Henry Traylor, MD, of Whiteville, under whose medical license she will operate. With great fanfare and a joyous whoop, she cut the ribbon, officially joining a burgeoning business presence in the Boro. The guests were then provided with vittles and sodas.

Daphne Russ Green, the practitioner behind Victory Medical, PLLC, is a life-long area resident. She received her RN via an Applied Associate of Science degree from Southeast Community College in 1997.

Over the ensuing years, Ms. Green expanded her education with a BSN from UNC-Pembroke; this was followed by a Master of Science in Nursing, which provided her the educational requirements to receive her Family Nurse Practitioner credentials.

At present, hours of operation are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Thursday; Ms. Green promised that hours would expand as clients increased. Victory Medical will accept most insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, BCBS, Cigna, and United Healthcare, among others.

The other employees of the firm are Courtlyn Bryon, Registered Medical Assistant; Mitzi Ward, Office Manager; and Angie Willoughby, Medical Receptionist.
